This section has absolutely NOTHING to do with the 80's I know,
but I can't help not mention the classic monster movies of the past.
I remember the first time I saw the movie Dracula, I don't think I
slept for a week. There is something about these old black & white
films that give me the creeps more than anything.
So go get your bucket of popcorn & join me!

FRANKENSTEIN - 1931

Starring:
Boris Karloff,
Colin Clive

This is a classic, and is what really made Karloff a star. Dr.Frankenstein is a mad-scientist, who is trying to discover a way to make the dead walk. He suceeds and creates a monster that has to deal with living again. I remember feeling compassion for the Monster when the little girl drowns at the end.
THE BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN (1935)

Starring:
Boris Karloff
Colin Clive
Elsa Lanchester

Hey, even Monsters need love! Frankie gets lonely so the good Dr. Frankenstein creates a mate for him.
The Curse Of Frankenstein -1957

Starring:
Peter Cushing,
Christopher Lee

Cushing plays Baron von Frankenstein, who becomes obsessed with the creation of life. Lee plays The Monster in this one.
Frankenstein Meets the Wolfman - 1943

Starring:
Béla Lugosi,
Lon Chaney Jr.

Lon Chaney stars as the
werewolf, who is seeking Dr. Frankenstein, hoping to be put out of his misery. But he finds out the scientist is dead--but the Monster (Lugosi) isn't.
Young Frankenstein (1974)

Starring:
Gene Wilder
Peter Boyle
Marty Feldman
Madeline Kahn
Cloris Leachman
Teri Garr

Ok, so this really isn't a classic. Hell, it's not even a horror flick now that you mention it. But this is STILL one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. If you like sight gags and stupid jokes, you'll laugh your ass off at this movie.
My favorite line:
Dr. Frankenstein: Would you mind telling me whose brain I did put in? (referring to the Monster's transplanted brain)
Igor: And you won't be angry?
Dr. Frankenstein: I will NOT be angry.
Igor: Abby someone.
Dr. Frankenstein: Abby someone? Abby who?
Igor: Abby Normal.
The Creature From The Black Lagoon -1954

Starring:
Julie Adams Whit Bissell

Awesome movie about some people who go on an Amazon expedition and encounter the deadly Gill-Man. This was originally made in 3D, which I have never seen.
The Mummy -1932

Starring:
Boris Karloff
Zita Johann

The just don't make movies this creepy anymore. Karloff is an Egyptian mummy, having been revived after thousands of years, and believes Johann is the reincarnation of an ancient mate.
Curse of the Werewolf -1961

Starring:
Oliver Reed
Yvonne Romain

Reed has wolf's blood and has to struggle to control the monster within him; it finally erupts when he is denied his girl's love. This movie is really cool.
Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde -1941

Starring:
Spencer Tracy
Ingrid Bergman
Lana Turner

Awesome movie!
Tracy plays both parts of Dr. Henry Jekyll/Mr. Hyde very well. Dr. Jekyll is a scientist who experiments reveal his evil side, named Hyde.
Dracula -1958

Starring:
Christopher Lee
Peter Cushing

When I think of all the people who have played Dracula in movies out there, Christopher Lee is the best.
The Fly -1958
Starring:
Vincent Price,
Patricia Owens
Cool movie
about a scientist who experiments with a teleportation machine and a fly somehow enters it with him, and he becomes one BIG BUG!

Return of The Fly -1959
Starring:
Vincent Price
John Sutton
The Fly's son attempts to reconstruct his late father's teleportation machine and also gets scrambled with an insect.
Invasion of The Body Snatchers -1956 The ultimate sci/fi movie! About small-town residents who are being replaced by inert duplicates that are hatched from alien "pods".
The Invisible Man -1933

Starring:
Claude Rains

Rains is a scientist who turns himself invisible. However, the formula slowly drives him insane, and causes him to terrorize the countryside as an invisible killer.
Them! (1954)

Starring:
James Arness

Aaack! Killer giant ants are running wild in the Southwest. Awesome movie!
THE BIRDS (1963)

Starring:
Rod Taylor
Tippi Hedron
Jessica Tandy
Suzanne Pleshette

Ok, so everytime I see more than one little birdie together, a shiver runs down my spine...it means nothing!
One of Hitchcock's finest.
THE BLOB -
1958

Starring:
Steve McQueen
Aneta Corsaut

McQueen is great in this classic film about an alien lifeform that consumes everything in its path as it grows and grows and grows.
Psycho 1960

Starring:
Anthony Perkins
Vera Miles

Somehow, a shower is never a shower again after seeing this Hitchcock classic. Hey, who wouldn't kill, having a mother like poor Norman Bates'?
